Suaka Margasatwa Tanjung Peropa seluas 38927 ha merupakan salah satu habitat penting Anoa di Sulawesi Tenggara dengan populasi sekitar 300-350 ekor. Kawasan konservasi ini mencakup beberapa tipe habitat mulai dari hutan mangrove, hutan pantai, hutan riparian, dan hutan dataran rendah dengan karakeristik utama batu kapur dan karst. Ketinggian habitat bervariasi 0-1000 m dpl. Selain anoa, satwa lain yang terdapat di SM Tanjung Peropa yaitu babi kutil Sulawesi (Sus celebensis), rusa (Rusa timorensis macassaricus), kuskus beruang (Ailurops ursinus), kuskus kerdil Sulawesi (Strigocuscus celebensis), rangkong (Rhyticeros cassidix), kara-kara (Penelopides exarhatus), maleo (Macrocephalon maleo). Berbagai jenis tumbuhan dapat dijumpai di kawasan konservasi ini, seperti bitti/laban/ (Vitec cofasus), kalaero (Diospyros malabarica dan D. pilosanthera), bayam (Intsia bijuga), pangi (Pangium edule), dlsb.
Kawasan konservasi ini tidak lepas dari berbagai tekanan, terutama pembalakan liar serta perambahan.
